The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy Opara has applauded the C.E.O/Chairman of E. Ekesons group of companies for sponsoring Christians during the 2014 Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel. He made the commendation in Abuja recently at a sensitization meeting with the Business Mogual.
The Assistant Director, Sensitization and Enlightenment Mr. Christian Udegbunam who represented the Executive Secretary, expressed gratitude to Chief Ojukwu for enriching the lives of Nigerian Christians through his sponsorship of Pilgrims to the Holy Land. In his words, ‘I appreciate you for investing in the lives of Nigerian Christians’.
He informed his host that the Commission will be flagging off its Easter Pilgrimage on 1st March, 2015 at Akanu Ibaim International Airport, Eungu. He added that Easter pilgrimage is based mainly on self sponsored Pilgrims.
He further informed that the Commission is planning to introduce a 3 day Leadership training programme in this year’s Easter pilgrimage exercise. He explained that this would afford Nigerians the opportunity to learn and acquire skills in different fields such as Agriculture, technology, etc. This would also enable them add values to their lives and they would in turn come back as transformed individuals.
The C.E. O /Chairman of E. Ekesons group of Companies, Chief Dr. Eugene Ojukwu, in his response thanked the NCPC team for paying him visit, in his words, “it gives me joy to know that those who embarked on the pilgrimage went to Israel and returned without any sad stories, but rather are full with testimonies”. Adding that without the efforts of the Executive Secretary it wouldn’t have been possible.
He also stated that it gives him great joy to be among the sponsors of pilgrims who embark on a spiritual refreshment journey to the Holy Land.
He enjoined wealthy Nigerians to sponsor Christians who are spiritually rich but materially poor to embark on a spiritual refreshment journey to the holy land, stating that as an elder Statesman, anytime he is called upon to sponsor pilgrims, he would not hesitate.
The former minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chief Dubem Onyia, urged Nigerians to invest in the things of God and not on material things, adding that well meaning Nigerians should always invest in sponsoring pilgrims to the Holy Land, as it will impact positively on their lives for the peace and growth of the country.
Present at the meeting were Mr. Bidwell Nsofor (special assistant to Chief Ojukwu) and Chief Sam Orazuo.
