The Oyo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has encouraged politicians to make the fear of God first in their political activities.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan, the state chairman of the association, Ayo Olabisi, made the appeal.
The cleric called on politicians to observe the rules guiding the electoral processes while exhibiting the fear of God. “We need to let our politicians know that coming into office is not a do-or-die affair. It is whatever God says that will come to manifestation,” he said.
Olabisi also said the ongoing 40-day fasting period for Christians, which started on February 18, was an appropriate time for Nigerians to seek the face of God. “The period has come up at the time we need prayers as a nation, especially with the elections around the corner. “It should be seen as a time for sober reflection; a time to seek the Lord’s face, repent and ask for forgiveness,” he said.
