Pastor Dapo Afolabi of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has urged Nigerians to remain calm and peaceful during the forthcoming Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections on April 11.
Pastor Afolabi in his sermon titled “God’s relationship’’ on Easter Sunday in Lokoja said that it was the relationship we had with God that he used to manifest his wonders.
He urged Nigerians to build a new relationship with God so that he could always fight their battles, saying that if not for God those beating the drums of war would have prevailed.
He also thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections and prayed to God to help Nigeria during and after the April elections.
Afolabi urged Nigerians to pray for the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari for God to assist him to pilot the affairs of the country.
Also, the Spiritual Head, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Olumba Olumba-Obu, has called for peace and tolerance among Nigerians.
Obu made this called on Sunday at the ongoing Easter retreat organised by the group in Calabar.
He urged Nigerians to always show love to others, adding that no nation prospered and developed without love, tolerance and peace among its people.
“Our role is to preach peace, ensure peace and unity so that meaningful development can be achieved in our country for the benefit of all.
“Without peace no meaningful development can be achieved in any society because peace is priceless and non-negotiable,” he said.
Obu called urged Nigerian leaders to remember that power is given to them by God and it is temporary.
He said that the leaders should make use of their position to develop a society free of injustice, corruption and other vices affecting the progress of Nigeria,” he added.
Obu urged Christians to continue to pray for the country and those in power in accordance with the teaching of the Bible.
He enjoined Nigerians to go and exercise their civil right in the forthcoming gubernatorial election slated for Aprill 11.
He also urged all security agencies to ensure adequate protection of life and property during the election in the interest of the nation.
