Ifeoma White-Thorpe |
A Nigerian teenager, Ifeoma White-Thorpe, living in New Jersey, USA, has just gotten admission into all eight Ivy league schools in America. So Ifeoma is now saddled with the envious task of choosing the school to go to.
She got admission to Havard, Yale, Cornell, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, Dartmouth and Brown.
Ifeoma, a senior and student government president at Morris Hills High school in Rockaway, wants to study biology and pursue a career in global health. She said she applied to all of these Ivy league schools because they "have great research facilities."
"I was shaking, I was like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, like this might be eight out of eight and I clicked it and it said 'Congratulations' and I was like oh my goodness and then I was like, what did I say?" Ifeoma said.
"I got into Harvard early action so I figured I'll just go there, so then I got into all the others and I was like, wait now I don't know where I want to go," Ifeoma said.
Asked if she has chosen any of the schools, Ifeoma's parents, Andre and Patricia White-Thorpe said they were leaving it up to her
In 2015, Ifeoma was named as one of the two winners in the National Liberty Museum's Selma Speech and Essay Contest. Here she is, reciting her essay which covers equal educational access, freedom and racial justice.
