Churches are now permitted to carry out their full services in Lagos state - Governor Sanwo-Olu

Churches have now been permitted to resume full services in Lagos state.

The State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this known during a briefing on Saturday 19th September, “As regards our places of worship, we are now also permitting the mosques to resume their five times a day prayers; and in the case of churches, they are now also permitted to resume their mid-week services. We must not forget that the Coronavirus pandemic is still very much with us, and we must therefore strive to prioritise the safety of all our children, teachers, parents, and the entire society.”

However, he warned that churches should adhere strictly to the safety precautions so as not to bring about a second wave.

"We must not forget that the coronavirus pandemic is still very much with us, and we must, therefore, strive to prioritize the safety of all our children, teachers, parents, and the entire society."

Churches were directed to open only on Sundays on the 7th of August with a view to resuming full service after a while.
