On October 1, 2020 (3.00p.m) - The Platform Nigeria will feature digital workshops on salient topics in Nigeria today.
One of the digital workshops will be looking at "The Family as a bedrock for a strong and stable society."
In the last couple of years, the Nigerian family has evolved from the traditional Nigerian extended family structure to the western style nuclear system.
This evolution is due to the acceptance of the western culture, extension of modern education, increasing affluence and globalisation.
This has in turn, created several problems with individuals, groups and the entire society. Some of these problems include the escalating incidence of juvenile delinquency, depression among youths, high crime rate, high divorce rate and increased anti-social and immoral acts.
This webinar seeks to delve into the issues that have arisen with this modern, western style nuclear system and how we can strengthen the values inherent in a closely-knit family and in turn, lead to a better society.
