Nigerias foremost cleric, Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsegbubemi Oritsejafor, popularly known as Papa Ayo Oritsejafor, is a year older today. He was born on November 10. He is the Senior Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria. Among his achievements was his leadership as the national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on February 7, 2005 from to 2010.
He also became the fifth president of the apex Christian body in Nigeria, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on July 2010. Likewise, he became the first Pentecostal leader to hold the position. He held the position till July 2016.
The Delta state indigene was the first to launch a miracle crusade from Africa to a world audience via satellite in 1987 with evangelist Joe Martins.
Papa Ayo has always had the vision to be a preacher. For his love for Christ and his determination to spread the gospel, he founded the Word of Life Bible Church (WLBC) in November 1987.
Oritsejafor is an accomplished preacher who has succeeded in ministry through the mentorship of Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Dr. Morris Cerullo, Evangelist Robert W. Schamback, and Evangelist Tommy L. Osborn amongst others. He is a leader par excellence. This exemplary leadership he exuded during the crisis in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria to an end.
The revered cleric has been a benefactor to many individuals. In Delta state, he has created various schemes to alleviate poverty in the land. Oritsejafor and his wife Helen partnered with Flight Micro Finance Bank to start an empowerment programme for the people in December 2005.
He has authored some Christian based books such as Walking in Unity, Breaking the Power of Yesterday, The Non-Essentials, The Stone That Killed Goliath, Power through the Church, The Battle is in the Mind, Be an Over-Comer, Power for the Journey, Faith Antidote for Daily Living, A Voice in the Wilderness, among others.
Oritsejafor, in his decision to spread the gospel to a wider audience, set up the African Broadcasting Network (ABN). ABN is an international satellite Christian television station that is set up to be a channel through which the gospel can reach the world from Africa. ABN is currently viewed in 75 countries world-wide and online via WebTV.
