Senior Pastor of Citadel Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare and his wife, Olayide, are marking their 36th wedding anniversary today. They got married on November 24th 1984.
Born on November 11, 1954, Pastor Bakare is an author, teacher, lawyer, activist, and cleric from Ogun state. He is one of the most influential political pastors in Nigeria. He served as the running mate of Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 presidential elections.
He founded the Citadel Assembly (formerly The Latter Rain Assembly), on April 1, 1989. He has been a staunch critic of many political decisions of the government.
A leader par excellence
Pastor Babatunde Gbolahan Bakare was a formidable voice during the #EndSARS protest. His opinion on public issues is often a thread for discussion. He is notable for his frequent statements on the state of the nation.
It will be recalled that the renowned cleric was a formidable voice during the 2012 subsidy protests. More so, he has condemned many policies of the government.
He does not believe in staying silent on issues that affect the people. He has always spoken up against the oppression of the masses.
He has a dream of becoming the president of the country some day. However, he has stated that his desire is not a do-or-die affair.
Let the dream of becoming the president should come to pass oo cos we have suffered enough. He may be the saviour this country need.
