Today is Good Friday.
This is the day when Christians honour the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. It is observed as a day of penance, grief and fasting. It also marks the end of the 40-day period of fasting for Christians, called the Lent which started on Ash Wednesday.
The Bible says he was sent for this purpose - to die on the cross, carrying all our sins.
As Christians, we believe that on the third day, he rose again which marks a victory over sin and death.
Halleluyah!
