American entertainer, Britney Spears, has demanded an end to the 13 years conservatorship by her father which was ordered by a Los Angeles court. She made this call during the virtual court proceeding last week.
She stated that instead of being compelled to severe therapy several times each week, she prefers to take her problems to God. After the singer had a mental breakdown in 2008, she was kept under conservatorship. This made her to cut her hair and was taken to various hospitals at different times.
During this period, her father, James "Jamie" Spears, became her conservator, a position the court gives to an individual to take care of the professional and personal dealings of someone who is incapacitated.
Since the court action, he has been in charge of her finances, which now stands at $60 million. She has since recovered from her breakdown and has released four albums. Also, she was a judge on ‘’X Factor’’ and has had a world tour. Likewise, she has had a Vegas residency where she performed two shows a day.
In the virtual court hearing, Spears stated that she has proven that she can handle her affairs without being controlled. Hence, she wants the legal hold on her life to be lifted.
She repeatedly said, ‘’I want my life back!" as she appeared before the Los Angeles Superior Court judge. Likewise, the mother of two stated that she doesn’t want to be evaluated psychologically as she desires an end to her conservatorship.
The 39-year-old admitted that she has had severe therapy and various appointments with doctors, and some of them exposed her into being the centre of prowling paparazzi. Also, she had met with other doctors who prescribed medications that were strong for her, including lithium.
Spears spoke vehemently that she wants changes in her life henceforth because she deserves it. Besides, she informed the judge that her former therapist, Dr. Benson abused her before he died in 2019.
“… he 100% abused me by the treatment he gave me. And to be totally honest with you, when he passed away, I got on my knees and thanked God,” she said.
However, the pop star, who grew up in a Southern Baptist Church has been asked to see a doctor and a therapist about four times a week.
“I don't feel like I can live a full life. I don't owe them to go see a man I don't know and share with him my problems. I don't even believe in therapy. I always think you take it to God. I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated,” she said.
God is always there for us, we are the one distancing ourselves from him. Good she know that God is the only solution to her problem. Good work dear
