Two of the students of Bethel Baptist Secondary school, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State who were kidnapped weeks ago have regained their freedom.
Channels Television reported that the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, said that “they were rescued on Wednesday evening by police operatives in Rijanna area along the Kaduna-Abuja highway”.
However, there are reports that the students escaped by themselves without the assistance of security operatives. Besides, Jalige reportedly said that the two abducted students had been taken to a police medical facility for examinations.
It will be recalled that 121 students of Bethel Baptist Secondary School were kidnapped from their hostels by armed bandits on July 8. One of the students was reported last week to have regained her freedom.
The bandits have requested N60million ransom for the release of the kidnapped students. Also, they asked the parents of their victims to send foodstuffs if they do not want their children to die of hunger.
The promises of the state government concerning the release of the students have not yielded positive results so far. Hence, it has necessitated the parents to resort to prayers.
