By 2022, a new Christian social networking platform, FaithMeet, will be launched for users globally. The app will contain soley Christian-based contents for its users to connect with. While speaking with The Christian Post, the founder of the platform, Godwin Rose Samuel, said that FaithMeet is set to provide undiluted faith-based content for its users.
He added that although platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram provide some faith-based content, it is inadequate. Besides, he feels there are some "secular distractions" on those platforms. Hence, he created the platform in 2021 that would not have any secular distractions.
"Christians have to spend long amounts of time sifting through other non-Christian and secular content to find the Christian content on these other apps. The Christian content is often not even God-centered because it distracts from the focus of the Jesus-focused gospels.
"Whenever I would search social media apps for Christian content, it was always a struggle to find quality content. So, I created my app that will contain mostly everything that these other apps have, but it will be diluted in faith, which I think will help Christians to focus on God more," Samuel said.
Although the platform was created with Christians as the major target, Samuel is hopeful non-Christians will find it worthy to use. Perhaps, they could learn more about the Christian faith using the app. FaithMeet shall permit users to post Christian-based content including articles, videos, pictures, music, and other related content.
On the platform, Christians and people of all faith backgrounds will be able to post about Christianity and will have access to Christian-based posts, pictures, videos, music and worship content. Also, there are avenues for Christians to make financial contributions to ministries of their choice. Likewise, there will be a feature for chatting which will enable users to interact with one another. They can equally share Godly contents with one another.
"I wanted to live out the faith by creating this social networking platform. I wanted to inspire those who don't know the Lord while even helping those who are already Christians to keep their eyes on the Lord and not on lusting and coveting over secular content," Samuel said.
"Other non-Christian content always pops up on these other apps. And currently, we are combining Facebook, YouTube and Instagram because we have posts, videos and pictures. So now, people don't have to go to these other platforms. It's all in one place," he added.
There will be a standard and guide for using the app. Posts that are not related or inappropriate will be removed. According to Samuel, there will be an extra set of eyes monitoring and tracking posts on the platform.
Initially, FaithMeet was called "Rovinsa," but there was a change of name when the platform was developed. The platform was founded with the intention of combining technology, religion, and the Gospel in one place. Christians will be able to form an online community. Churches can also spread information about their events and programs using the platform.
"They can meet each other and glorify God through the app. I think this will help people move away from porn and other secular things that negatively influence the youth," Samuel said.
