The General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev. Dr. Obiora Ezekiel has passed on at the age of 78. This announcement was made today by the management of the church in a statement signed by Rev. John Ezeh, who is the Coordinator, CPM Int’l Imo State and member, board of trustees.
The statement read, ‘’Ladies and gentlemen, I am saddened with a responsibility to all sons, daughters, friends and lovers of Christian Pentecostal Mission International (CPM) to make an official announcement by the authority vested on me by the National/International Coordinator of CPM International that our father, mentor, our general, field marshal, the man that saw the vision, the man that began the race, the man on whose shoulder we are all climbing. The founder and General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International, Rev. Dr. O. Ezekiel, has gone to be with the Lord just a few days ago.
‘’Before his departure, he had been telling us to keep the vision alive, and the fire burning. That mantle is with us, the glory is with us while he goes to wait for us to come over when the time is ripe. This was a man whose doggedness in the gospel gave him a title, ‘’Demon Destroyer,’’ the man who is best known as a teacher of divine nature. He has left his mantle with us to continue where he stopped to move CPM to the next level. He came, he saw, he conquered, and triumphantly he left. Transform triumphantly, our General till we meet at Jesus’ feet.’’
While reacting to his death, ace journalist, Emmanuel Tobi posted, ‘’Rest in peace God’s general, Rev. O Ezekiel, General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission, my childhood and family church. Thanks for the foundation you gave to us. I can’t forget family week, Jesus University and investments in the children ministry whom I am a product of.
‘’I remember how my elder brother Cyril and I will go to Jesus University from school and when the Headquarters was being built at 10/12 Salami Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos. Seeing you joining and supervising the workforce then during the construction was an inspiration to us then as youths.’’
Godwin Irekhe commented, ‘’He was not involved in any form of controversy. A complete gentle man of God. May God comfort his family and folks. Rest in peace.’’
Gospel singer Judi Kay wrote, ‘’Rest in peace Daddy General (Rev. Dr. O. Ezekiel, General Overseer, Christian Pentecostal Mission) You lived, you conquered! Rest Daddy! It is well.’’
Rev. Dr. O. Ezekiel is survived by his wife, Rev. Dr. Mercy Ezekiel, their children and grandchildren.
