Popular Plateau-based cleric, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has tackled a Kaduna-based activist and businessman, Shehu Mahdi, who said that Muslims are being targeted in the Southern part of Nigeria. In a viral video, Mahdi said that Christians in the North should not vote for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi. His claim was that Obi is a Biafran.
However, on Thursday, September 22, 2022, Prophet El-buba described Madhi as a “liar”. He said, “I want to make an address for one minute, there is one man called Mahdi Usman who spoke a few days ago and tried to speak lies against the Southern church and against the southerners.
“That we northerners that are Christians, we come to the south and we find it difficult to get a land to worship God. I want to say to you Mahdi Usman, you are a liar. I am a northerner and I am preaching here in the south.”
He added that an end has come for the lies being told by some persons in the past 62 years of Nigeria’s independence. He also encouraged the citizens – both Christians and Muslims - to stand up against people spreading false tales in the country. More so, he advised the people to vote for Obi in the 2023 presidential elections.
He said, “I want to say that it’s time for the lies that some of you have been lying for 62 years, the end of your lies has come.”
As Nigeria decides on a new set of leadership in her forthcoming elections, the cleric noted that he would not just concentrate on preaching on the pulpit alone when the country is going through a lot of challenges. Rather, he would move to the street to speak the truth if necessary.
