Nigeria’s athletic champion, Tobi Amusan, has been fantastic on the track for a while now. She recently broke record by becoming the first Nigerian to win gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championship. She also won gold medals at the 2022 Commonwealth games.
In addition, she defended her Diamond League 100m title last Thursday in Zurich and also broke a record with a win under 12.29secs. After her remarkable performance, she gave all the glory to God for her win. She said, “God is faithful.”
This year has been amazing for her despite being doubted by many persons. She revealed that she would take a break and resume practice for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Amusan said, “Everyone has doubted me. I just had to prove myself that I have got it. I am just so thankful for all of this season. I am full of emotions. Now, vacation, rest, and then back to practice.”
She noted that she was all out to prove herself that she is capable of more feats after breaking previous records. More so, she is thankful for her achievements so far.
She said, “No pressures, It was more of proving myself that I broke the world record and I can do it over and over, it is not just a one-time thing, even though after the world championships it took a toll on me to get back to my rhythm but with enough rest, I was able to bounce back and I am thankful.”
However, she said that she was scared during her recent race but she knew she needed to maintain calm if she would win the competition.
She said, “I was scared to the teeth getting on the line, but I had to just keep my calm. I am just thankful to have come out here (Zurich) and got the win.”
There are expectations that Amusan will put up more amazing performances in her career for her nation.
