‘Destined at Christmas’ breaks viewership record

‘Destined at Christmas’, the first movie launched on Great American Family (GAF), has broken a viewership record. The Chief Executive Officer of GAF, Bill Abbott, who is a former Hallmark executive, ascribed the record of the film to ‘great content’.

Great American Family has planned 18 original holiday movies in 2022 and ‘Destined at Christmas’ is the first. The network has dubbed its movies this season as ‘Great American Christmas’.

The movie, which was released on October 22, featured Shae Robins and Casey Elliot. So far, it has about one million views.

According to a news release, the movie broke records such as all network ratings, records in every key demo, including total households, total viewers, women 25-54 and women 18-49. In addition, it topped the “Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Saturday premiere” in the “women 25-54 coverage area.”

The statement on the movie record read, “The first weekend of Great American Christmas was the highest-rated weekend ever for Great American Family among Households and Total Viewers.”

Abbott, the Chief Executive Officer of Great American Media, which is the parent company of Great American Family, took to social media to celebrate the record.

He wrote on Twitter, “Not all Christmas movies are created equal. We understand better than anybody how to produce quality Christmas movies and that great content wins. Viewers have found that in our #GreatAmericanChristmas programming event on #GreatAmericanFamily!”

On his part, Daniel Lissing, who played one of the roles in Catering Christmas, an upcoming Great American Family movie, said he is confident that the network will continue to break more records with Abbott heading the company.

He told Digital Journal, “I am certain that Abbott is going to take the reins of Great American Family, and he is going to turn that into the No. 1 family programming channel in America.”

Actors who have been billed for the Great American Christmas lineup are Danica McKellar, Jill Wagner, Candace Cameron Bure, Cameron Mathison, and Gladys Knight.
