The recent flooding in Orlando, Florida, has caused a lot of havoc in the city. As clean up begins, a pastor in one of the affected areas have encouraged individuals to keep hope alive and be steadfast in their faith.
Pastor Russel Benson, who is the leader of Nation’s Church, Orlando, is bothered about the effect of the floods especially because of his mother who did not evaluate early enough because she did not know about the gravity of the storm. Sadly, Hurricane Ian did more than what the pastor’s mom had imagined.
Benson noted that he has reached out to his mother and she is doing pretty fine although her house was badly damaged by the hurricane. Nevertheless, the preacher is not deterred by the destruction in the city.
He says that he would still hold service this Sunday and he is hopeful that the city will return to its former self.
He told CBN News, "As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ – and the church of Jesus Christ – we have this amazing peace that gives us the strength during and after the storm.
He also used the incident to encourage anyone currently going through a storm. He said that no matter what the challenge may be, God is still with that person.
"Even as I'm talking to you now, I want to encourage you that God is with you even in the middle of the storm. No matter what your trial – it may be a physical hurricane or it may be something spiritual in your life that you're going through."
CBN's Operation Blessing is also set to support victims of the flood with its humanitarian outreach programme.
