A popular Christian film, ‘The Chosen’, has won the Impact category at the Pillar Award, organised by the Museum of the Bible in the United States of America. The event was held last weekend during the Museum’s fifth anniversary. The creator of the film, Dallas Jenkins, was present to receive the award.
In a statement made available to The Christian Post, the Chief Executive Officer of the Museum of the Bible, Harry Hargrave, said, “Our 2022 Pillar Award recipients have achieved exceptional impact on Bible engagement in their fields. Our awards recognize how each has done so creatively and in a way that shows the Bible’s relevance to culture and society today.”
‘The Chosen’ was released in December 2019 and it was produced by Angel Studios. So far, its first two seasons have gathered millions of views. Christianity Nigeria had earlier reported that season three of the movie is set to hit the theatres on November 18. Jenkins made this announcement on Facebook.
He wrote, "Most common question I get: 'When's Season 3 coming out?' I now have the same answer you can give your friends: November 18, Episodes 1 and 2 back to back, only in theaters."
The theme for Season 3 of ‘The Chosen’ is based on the New Testament scripture Matthew 11:28 which reads, "Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest."
The first two episodes will be available on the free streaming platform of the series after its premiere in the theatres. In December, the remaining six episodes will launch on the Chosen App.
The series is centred on the life of Jesus and its first season was released in 2017. Since then, it has gathered a lot of views. So far, the first and second season has gathered more than 400 million views.
Other winners of the Pillar Award were the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, which won the Pillar Award for the ‘Narrative’ category; and President of Wycliffe Bible Translators, John Chesnut, who won the ‘History’ category.
