The biggest gospel musical concert in Nigeria, The Experience, is set to return to the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, two years after it was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will be recalled that the last onsite event was held in 2019. The organizers of the event, House on the Rock Church, have said that this year’s event, which is the 17th edition, promises to be like no other. The theme for the 2022 edition, which will be held this Friday, December 2, is ‘Jesus: The Exceptional One’.
International and local gospel artistes billed to attend the concert include Nathaniel Bassey, Tim Hughes, Dunsin Oyekan, Mercy Chinwo, Chandler Moore, Travis Greene, Donnie McClurkin, Phil Thompson, Muyiwa Olarewaju, Tope Alabi, Onos Ariyo, Preye Odede, Sinach, Eno Micheals, Eben, and the Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir of the House On The Rock church.
The convener of the event and head pastor of the church, Paul Adefarasin, also spoke about what attendees should expect from the event. In a statement made available to The Punch, Adefarasin said, “You don’t want to miss, as it promises to be a night of pulsating praise, passionate worship, fervent prayers and an outpouring of the presence of God like never seen before.”
The cleric also said that there is no barrier to the impact the event will make in the lives of the attendees, adding that it is the most watched and anticipated gospel concert in the world.
He said, “One of the most remarkable things about this much-awaited event is its ability to bring together a cross section of people through music, in absolute surrender to their maker, and giving no thought to age, gender, race, status or religious inclinations.
“This is arguably one of the most anticipated and most watched gospel concerts in the world. It’s strictly virtual edition in 2020 was viewed over five million times on YouTube and Facebook.”
