Puerto Rican artiste, Ramón Ayala, popularly known as Daddy Yankee, has announced his decision to quit music and focus on his faith. He made this revelation during his farewell tour tagged ‘La Meta’, which was held in Puerto Rico’s José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum recently.
During his performance, the reggaeton artiste told the crowd in Spanish, “I am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives in me and that I will live for him.”
His statements were translated by Variety. He continued, “For many years, I’ve tried filling a hole in my life that no one could fill. I tried finding a purpose, on many occasions, it seemed as if I was happy but something was missing for me to feel complete.”
The 46-year-old singer also asked his audience to follow him on his new path with Jesus Christ.
He said, “All the tools that I have in my possession such as music, social networks, platforms, a microphone — everything that Jesus gave me — is now for his kingdom. Thank you very much Puerto Rico, and I hope that you walk with me in this new beginning.
“To all the people who followed me, follow Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life. Just like Jesus, with his mercy, allowed me to travel the world, in your mercy, Father, I hope you allow me to evangelize the world from Puerto Rico. Amen.”
The singer’s final album, ‘Legendaddy’, was released in 2022 and he had four farewell performances which began in July till December 2023. He had one of the most successful musical careers in Latin American history.
