The Super Eagles of Nigeria are through to the final of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament after they beat the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday, February 7.
Several citizens of the West African nation are basking in the euphoria of the victory. Many took to social media to celebrate. Gospel singer Victoria Orenze said on X, “We get backing Nigeria. We no dey play alone! Congratulations Nigeria. Thank God.”
Her colleague Dunsin Oyekan wrote, “I can smell Jollof, please where are they cooking?”
Nathaniel Bassey commented, “Jesus Iye! This one is a clear case of what was impossible.”
Senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya said, “My fellow Nigerians, God no go shame us. First of all, South Africans, the boys played good game. But at this point, its time for the boys to go to sleep. It’s your bed time. But as you sleep, a song comes to my mind, ‘you have played, you have missed now, you have lost your breathe, you need water.’ If there is any consolation, it’s Grammy Awards water. We will be praying for you as you go for the Third Place. Guess what my Nigerians, we are bringing it home. We are the Super Eagles, we keep flying.”
