In her one-year remembrance post, the first child of Pastor Taiwo, Pastor Toluwani Odukoya stated that her father gave her the true legacy which was the Holy Spirit.
She posted a collage of pictures of some fond times with her father when he was alive. The Associate Senior Pastor of the church wrote: “Missing doesn’t begin to explain this. vacuum, the loss, the pain. Your smile, your hugs, your words of encouragement, your prayers, my father, you gave me a true legacy. You gave me the Holy Spirit. Thank you for the excellent life you lived. You made God proud. I love you forever and a day more. Your Tolu-baby.”
Also, Pastor Taiwo’s second daughter Dr. Deborah Odukoya showered encomiums on her late father as she penned a lengthy note about him.
She wrote: “Today started with a feeling of sadness. Not an overwhelming loud sadness but a subtle quiet sadness nudging me to remember the significance of the day.
“To ignore this feeling or to try to pray it away would have been a betrayal to my body and its signals;
an invalidation of my own loss. Instead, I leaned into what my sadness was trying to tell me; this nudge asking me to slow down and reflect. In my reflection, I remembered his hands, the hands that carried me, prayed for me, and encouraged me.
“I remembered his smile, the smile that made me laugh, wiped away my sadness, and informed me of his pride in me. I remembered his words, the words that helped form my identity, built my confidence, and taught me the word of God
“In the midst of my reflection, I asked God to cover me under the shadow of His wings so that I may continue to feel His comfort and peace. Today, I acknowledge, honor, and appreciate the amazing person that was my father. It's been one year since you left Dad. I miss you and I love you.”
