Tope Alabi, others mourn as gospel singer, Aduke Gold, dies


The gospel music industry has been thrown into mourning as the death of one of its own, Aduke Ajayi, better known as Aduke Gold, was announced by her older colleague Esther Igbekele on Tuesday, August 13.

She posted a picture of the deceased with the caption, “A general has fallen. RIP.”

Also, veteran gospel singer Tope Alabi spoke about how she loved Aduke. She wrote on Instagram: “Aduke, you knew I loved you, but Jesus loves you more. Rest in perfect peace.”


According to a close source, Aduke Gold was ill for two months. The source added that the gospel singer died on Monday, August 12 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Igbeleke recounted some fond moments with the deceased. She said: “You started very young as Aduke Penkele growing big to Aduke Gold.. But today you are no more. Heaven has gained an Angel. Sleep on dearest sister. RIP.”
