American gospel singer and pastor, William McDowell, celebrated his 48th birthday on August 31, 2024. It was an avenue for him to reflect on his life and thank God for seeing him this far. He also used his Nigerian colleague Victoria Orenze’s song ‘See How Far’ to buttress his point.
The ‘I Give Myself Away’ crooner wrote on social media: “It’s my birthday. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see another birthday. I do not take for granted that the Lord has brought me through another year.
“I originally planned to use my sister Victoria Orenze’s song ‘See How Far’ to commemorate the faithfulness of God over this year. Most don’t know how much, but the last 365 days have amounted to one of the more challenging years of my life.
“Through it all, God has been faithful and I’ve seen literal miracles! This year, I’ve officiated funerals of several people I loved and prayed for. I’ve seen several people my age or younger go home to be with the Lord. I’ve fought in prayer to see the closest people to me escape death by the hand of the Lord.
“The song ‘See How Far’ would be appropriate, but today I woke up with such gratitude for the faithfulness and goodness of God that a switch up was necessary. I may be another year older but through it all God has been good and as a result, as brother Fred Hammond said…I feel good! I also feel grateful for the goodness of God!”
