“You can’t ignore him”: Sam Adeyemi, others rejoice with Oyedepo at 70

The lead pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, described the president of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, as a rare human, while celebrating his 70th birthday recently.

On Saturday, September 28, he wrote on Facebook, “Happy birthday to a rare human, rare mentor, and contagious person, who doesn’t leave others the same: Bishop David Oyedepo. Like Pastor E. A. Adeboye said of you; ‘Love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him.’

“It’s amazing how I remember with clarity things you told me over twenty-five years ago. In one instance, you said; ‘Do you know my definition of a millionaire? It’s someone who touches a million lives.’

“You’ve touched millions of lives, no doubt. So, I’ve taken that seriously, believing that the greatest measure of our success is in contribution, and not just acquisition. I pray for God to keep you in perfect health, preserve your family, fill your heart to overflow with fulfillment and joy, and multiply both the quantity and quality of your impact. Happy birthday.”

Also celebrating the septuagenarian is Pastor Jerry Eze of Streams of Joy International. He said, “Happy birthday Bishop. We love you, sir. Legend. Absolute. Inspiration.”

His wife, Pastor Eno Jerry Eze wrote, “Happy 70th birthday to a legend and more Bishop David Oyedepo. We celebrate you today and always, sir.”

Also, gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey shared how Bishop Oyedepo's messages have influenced him positively. He said, “Years ago, the Lord led me to give up all my mainstream commitments. I was to live by faith. I wondered how this was possible. I got a witness from Papa Hagin’s book. But still wanted another confirmation.

“On my way to RCCG camp, in a friend’s car, Seun Tubi, Papa’s voice blared from one of His messages. Then he quoted scripture from Isaiah 45:13 about Cyrus, ‘I have raised Him up in righteousness, I shall direct all His ways, he shall build my cities, it is for price, not reward.’ I knew this was my word. That was my confirmation and confidence.

“Today, I’m living in the reality of that prophetic word. I Join the body of Christ, globally, to celebrate a formidable force of faith, Bishop David Oyedepo fondly called Papa. I love and honour you. Thank you for inspiring a generation and more to come. Happy birthday sir.
